Fire Incident Overview
Severe bushfires are spreading across New South Wales (NSW), Australia in December 2025.
More than 50 fires are burning across the state, with several still out of control. Homes and critical infrastructure have been damaged, and at least one fatality has been reported.
Extreme weather conditions have worsened the situation.
Temperatures reached up to 41°C, and strong, unpredictable winds caused the fires to spread rapidly, making firefighting efforts more challenging.
Tasmania is also facing an emergency fire threat.
Fire fighting Challenges and Risks
One firefighter was killed while responding to a bushfire near Bulahdelah, north of Sydney, after a tree fell during operations.
The fire burned approximately 3,500 hectares and destroyed several homes.
NSW is one of Australia’s most fire-prone regions due to its hot, dry climate and large eucalyptus forests, which contain highly flammable oils.
Fire Safety Reminder
We sincerely hope fires never happen.
However, even a very small risk deserves proper preparation.
Proper fire prevention measures and reliable fire safety equipment can help protect lives and property when emergencies occur.
